The following sections describe some features common to all areas of the Trade Services system. These common features include the following:
When the Trade Services system processes information you have entered on a page (for example, verifying or authorising a transaction or creating a party), one or more brief messages display in the messages and warnings area of the page to report the status or outcome of the processing. These one-line messages display at the top of the page, above the main content area of the page.
See an example of the messages and warnings area.
There are three different types of messages that can display in the messages and warnings area: error messages, warning messages, and informational messages. Each type of message begins with an icon indicating the message type:
- Indicates an error message
- Indicates a warning message
- Indicates an informational message
The table below provides a description of each type of message that can appear in the messages and warnings area, including an example of each type of message.
Message Type |
Description |
Example |
Error message |
This type of message displays in the messages and warnings area after you perform an action on an item (such as save or verify), but missing or invalid data prevents completion of the processing. |
This message displays when you perform an action (such as save or verify) on a transaction without completing the Beneficiary Name field, which is required for processing of the transaction. To correct the error condition, complete the missing field and perform the action again. |
Warning message |
This type of message also displays after you perform an action on an item and there is missing or invalid data; however, a warning condition does not prevent the completion of processing. |
This message displays when you save a transaction without completing the To field in the Shipment section. This does not require a correction; however, you should be aware of the missing data. |
Informational message |
This type of message displays simply to provide you with information about a processing action performed by the system. |
This message displays after you create a new party. This message does not require any action from you. |
The Trade Services system has been designed to allow navigation only through the page controls available within the system. Therefore, do not use the controls on your browser's tool bar (such as Back, Forward, and Reload) to navigate through the system.
For example, if you access the Pending Transactions page from the Messages area, use the Messages button on the navigation bar to return to the Messages area; if you access a transaction page from the Pending Transaction page, use the heading hyperlink at the top of the page to return to the Pending Transactions page.
Note: Although you should not use your browser's tool bar controls to navigate through the Trade Services system, you can use browser controls to assist your navigation through this online help system.
Your Trade Services system login session will time out after a period of inactivity. The system administrator in your organization determines the number of minutes of inactivity after which the Trade Services system times out your login session. Inactivity means not clicking a button or not clicking a link to another page in the Trade Services system. For this reason, you must periodically save the information you enter; especially when you are working on a detail page in the system.
However, when the system administrator of your organization enables the Auto Save system setting, the Trade Services system automatically saves the information you entered before timing out your login session. The Auto Save feature is only available on a transaction or a Reference Data page. The Auto Save feature includes a validation process. The validation that is performed is the same as that when the user presses the Save button. For this reason, the information that you entered must be valid in order for it to be automatically saved before your login session is timed out.
|
The Timeout Warning window pops up 2 minutes before your login session is scheduled to time out due to inactivity. You must click the Close button to acknowledge the Timeout Warning.
|
After closing the Timeout Warning pop up window, you must perform an action, such as pressing Save & Close or Save, pressing another button, or clicking a link to another page, in order to prevent your login session from timing out. Otherwise, if you are ready to exit the Trade Services system, save the information you have entered and log out.
