The Reference Data Area allows you to view and maintain reference data used in the Trade Services system, including address book, phrases, threshold groups, instrument templates, users, security profiles, foreign exchange rates, LC creation rules, PO definitions and Cross Rate Calculation Rules. From the Reference Data Area, you can access all other areas of the system through the navigation bar.
The following are some things to keep in mind when working with the Reference Data area.
The types of reference data that you can view or maintain is determined by your security rights in the system. The Show drop-down list in the Reference Data Area displays only the reference data types you are allowed to view. After you select a specific reference data type, the listing page redisplays with all available reference data items of the selected type. You can then click on a reference data item to display the detail page for the item.
Global reference data items for some reference data types that have been created by administrative users will appear in the reference data listing pages; however, corporate customer users cannot modify or delete this global data. In addition, corporate users cannot edit or delete reference data items created by a different organisation.
When more than one user accesses the same reference data item, the first user to save his or her changes effectively "locks" the other user(s) from saving changes. This means that if another user saves changes to an item before you save your changes, you will need to cancel from the page, reopen the reference data item, and save your changes again. An error message will alert you in the event of this situation.
Working with the Reference Data Area involves both listing and detail pages. If you are not familiar with how to work with listing and detail pages, review the Working with Listing Pages and Working with Detail Pages help topics before using any of the Reference Data Area pages.
